(Olds, AB- Aug 4, 2023) – Second generation grain producers, Greg & Sarah Stamp, of Stamp Seeds & Stamp Farms from Enchant AB, were named Alberta’s Outstanding Young Farmers for 2023 at the Alberta Region’s Recognition Event held in conjunction with Olds College AgSmart Expo Aug 2-3.

Greg & Sarah Stamp along with Greg’s two brothers Nathan and Matthew and parents Richard and Marian operate Stamp Seeds and Stamp Farms in the Bow River Irrigation District. With 5000 acres under irrigation and 2000 acres of dryland farming, they produce pedigreed seed such as wheat, barley, spelt, faba beans, peas, lentils, flax, hybrid rye, grass, and hybrid seed canola. Stamp Seeds retail and wholesale seed, contract grow and multiply stock seed for their 1500 customers.

Greg is the seed sales manager while Nathan is the farm manager and Matthew is the business operations manager. They are all responsible for production of high-quality seed and overseeing the nineteen full time and nine seasonal employees.

Stamp Farms are very proud to participate in the Canadian Foodgrains Bank harvests. The operation has also been involved with a wildlife habitat restoration and creation project which involved planting thousands of trees around fields and enhancing wetland and grassland areas between fields for habitat. Community involvement and their family of 6 children are very important to Greg & Sarah.

The Alberta Region of Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmers Program were pleased and proud to have four diverse and impressive operations at the 2023 Regional Event. The Nominees recognized were:

Albert Agriculture Minister, RJ Sigurdson, brought greetings on Wednesday. President of the National OYF board, Danny Penner also attended and had this comment, “Wow, being a part of the Alberta OYF regional event was an honor. Alberta coordinators Natasha Pospisil and Jinel Ference did an outstanding job of putting together a program that mimicked a national OYF event. Being a part of AgSmart Expo at Olds College was a great complement to the event. Greg and Sarah Stamp of Enchant will be excellent ambassadors for Alberta agricultural and for Canada OYF. Their farm story is impressive and I cannot wait to see them in Laval in November.”

Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmers’ program is an annual competition to recognize farmers that exemplify excellence in their profession and promote the tremendous contribution of agriculture. Open to participants 18 to 39 years of age, making the majority of income from on-farm sources, participants are selected from seven regions across Canada, with two national winners chosen each year. The program is sponsored nationally by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, CIBC, John Deere, Bayer, Sollio Agriculture and CN with media sponsors Glacier FarmMedia and WS. It is supported nationally by BDO.

Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmers for 2023 will be chosen at the National event in Laval Quebec from November 22-26, 2023.
