2025- Austin Hanslip- Eriksdale, MB

I am Austin Hanslip, part owner/operator in our family farm, Triple Oak Farms. Our farm is located in the Interlake near the town of Eriksdale. Myself, along with my girlfriend Georgia, parents Ken and Anita, and sister Autumn, all work together to run 350 cow/calf pairs, a 500 head feedlot, as well as 1500 acres of crop land.

These crops include corn, oats, soybeans, barley, and alfalfa. My family has a strong farming background, all sharing the same passion for the land and our animals. This has allowed us to work towards the same goals in growing and improving our operation. Over the last number of years, we have strived to bring top quality calves to the market. We have focused strongly on herd health, genetics, and our feeding program. These factors combined have helped us build a reputation for our farm which has been a significant asset when marketing our calves. Over the last few years,

I have worked to expand the grain operation on the farm, this has allowed us to become more self sustainable as a business by being able to use the crops we grow to support the cattle portion of the farm as well as have an additional revenue stream.

Being the 4th generation of our family farm gives me a great sense of pride and having the opportunity to continue my family’s legacy is something I treasure. It also gives me the motivation to continue to find new approaches, adopt new technologies, and implement new practices to ensure that the farm can remain sustainable for future generations. In closing, I am honoured to be selected as a finalist for this program and excited to shed light on what it means to be a young person in the agricultural industry.
