(Regina, SK  June 22, 2024) –Cyle & Erika Stewart of Morse were named Saskatchewan’s Outstanding Young Farmers for 2024 at the Saskatchewan Region’s Recognition Event held in conjunction with Canada’s Farm Show at REALDistrict June 19-20.

Cyle and Erika Stewart operate Pine Ranch where they run a commercial cow/calf operation and grass yearlings. They are constantly looking at ways to learn and improve production practises. Soil health, cattle nutrition and low stress handling are integral components to their operation.

Cyle attended college in Montana on a rodeo scholarship. He currently sits on the Canadian Ranch Roping Association board of directors, is an RM counsellor and sits on the Saskatchewan Agriculture Matters board in an executive position. Cyle is also very passionate about working horses, stock dogs and low stress cattle handling.

Erika has a degree in Education from the University of Alberta where she played varsity rugby. Erika completed the Cattlemen’s Young Leaders program as a mentee, was the inaugural president of the Young Cattlemen’s Council and just completed the CWA’s Next Gen Mentorship Program. Erika is very passionate about advocacy and enjoys sharing the story of beef production with consumers. Currently Erika is the provincial coordinator for the Verified Beef Production Plus program in SK.

Cyle and Erika have served as mentors in the Beef Cattle Research Council mentorship program and enjoy competing in Ranch Roping.

The Saskatchewan Region of Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmers Program were pleased and proud to have two diverse and impressive operations at the 2024 Regional Event. The Nominees recognized were:

Jeff and Riley Ewen from Riverhurst, operate E3 Ag Ventures, farming with their family, focusing on growth using irrigation. They recently started a custom operator business, specializing in row crop production of dry edible beans. Both couples exemplify excellence in agriculture and the value they place on family. Cyle and Erica Stewart have been named the 2024 Outstanding Young Farmers and are sure to represent Saskatchewan well at nationals. The event highlighted the best of OYF – networking, friendship, and a passion for agriculture!.”

Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmers’ program is an annual competition to recognize farmers that exemplify excellence in their profession and promote the tremendous contribution of agriculture. Open to participants 18 to 39 years of age, making the majority of income from on-farm sources, participants are selected from seven regions across Canada, with two national winners chosen each year. The program is sponsored nationally by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, CIBC, John Deere, Bayer, Sollio Agriculture, Meridian Manufacturing and CN with media sponsors Glacier FarmMedia and WS and video sponsor, Bamboo Shoots. It is supported nationally by BDO.

Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmers for 2024 will be chosen at the National event in Lethbridge, Alberta from November 27-Dec 1, 2024.
